Milan signed Zapata on a permanent basis

Milan confirmed they have signed defender centre-back Zapata from Villareal on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old Columbian joined the Rossoneri on a season-long deal last summer with an option of buying out his contract. Zapata managed to impress both the coaching staff and the fans with his performances, and as a result the Serie A giants decided to secure his services.

The player, who has made 28 appearances for Milan this season, has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at San Siro for up to 2016.
A statement of official Milan web-site read: “AC Milan wishes to communicate they have made the signing of Cristian Zapata from Villarreal permanent. The defender’s contract will run to June 30, 2016.”
