Most hideous kung fu kicks in football
After a recent boxing punch in South African Premier League we tried to remember some of the most hideous punches that we’ve recently witnessed in football
Morgan Gould
The South African international Morgan Gould knocked down his opponent Getaneh Kebede with a perfectly-placed hook as Kaizer Chiefs hosted Bidvest Wits in the South African Premier Soccer League. The referee had a perfect view of the episode but did not deem necessary to warn the puncher with any sort of punishment. Kaizer Chiefs proceeded to a 2-1 win, while the defender apologized for his action through Twitter.
Jonathan Fabbro
River Plate scored against Rosario Central on 79 minutes and looked comfortable until Jonathan Fabbro completed a kung fu kick to the head of Guillermo Fernandez and was sent off with straight red. River, however, went on to win the match.
Chris Mavinga
In the match of the Belgian Pro League between Genk and Standard Chris Mavinga’s foot caught the head of Mehdi Carcela-González, who ended up with broken nose and jaw.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Zlatan is an adept of both artistic and destructive kung fu. In one of the Milan derbies Marco Materazzi did not have to simulate pain.
Bruno Pinheiro
The Portuguese defender went mad in extra time of a match of the Polish championship. Widzew Lodz lost the game and Pinheiro returned to Portugal.
Franco Di Santo
The Argentine defender of Werder Bremen took down Bastian Oczipka. Straight red.
Hernanes
Lazio leader Hernanes ended the day early after kicking Karim Benzema’s head. It was just a friendly match.
Smith
Peru championship. A Brazilian player of Alianza Universidad knocked out a player of Deportivo Municipal and saw the red light. His team went on to a 1-0 victory.
Gustavo
Wild South America. In the match between Recife and Vasco Da Gama youth squads the Lions’ keeper caught the head of Vasco player Elivelton. The forward was taken to hospital and Gustavo was about to be trialed for attempted murder. However, Elivelton did not suffer any serious injuries and the case was hushed up after Gustavo apologies.
Ailson
Rodrigo Silva from ABC football club scored a brace in a Cup match against Recife and was harshly knocked down by Ailson, who got away with yellow card.
Tim Wiese
Former Werder Bremen goalkeeper is a master of headshots. Thomas Muller suffered from his interceptions:
as well as Ivica Olic:
Gastón Sessa
Why did Rodrigo Palacio leave Argentina for Italy? Because there are no guys like Sessa there. Just a yellow for the keeper.
Bonus. A father of all headshotsEric Cantona:
