Porto Joao Moutinho could join Tottenham in summer

Porto playmaker Joao Moutinho has been promised by the club’s president he can leave the club in summer with Tottenham being his most likely destionation.

The Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, who is a long-term admirer of the 26-year-old midfielder, has tried to land the player in January, but the proposed move fell through. Tottenham chief Daniel Lavy has been reluctant to pay a hefty transfer fee demanded by the Portuguese side. However Moutinho himself is excited with the perspective of playing in Premier League and tried to force a move away from the club. He entered the talks with the Porto president Pinto da Costa, who has promised to release him in summer.

However Porto are unlikely to settle for anything less than £22 million for their playmaker, with Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in securing the services of the player.
