Premier League fixtures preview: Liverpool host Everton in Merseyside derby

Premier League fixtures preview: Liverpool host Everton in Merseyside derby

Liverpool host Everton knowing the defeat will give a major blow to their chances of finishing above David Moyes’ men.

Everton are finding themselves five points above the cross-town rivals with three games remaining and are in the driving seat of finishing the season above Liverpool for the second time in a row. They have only slim chances of claiming top four finish this season, as they are trailing fourth-placed Arsenal by five points.

Liverpool will be hoping to extend their five-game unbeaten run at the expense of Everton. The Reds will be entering the game full of confidence following their impressive 6-0 demolition of Newcastle.

Liverpool team news:

Luis Suarez serves just a second game of his 10-match suspension for unsporting behavior.

Brendan Rodgers is likely to field Daniel Sturridge up front, after his impressive performance against Newcastle.
Borini has fully recovered from his shoulder injury, and will start from the bench.

Allen and Kelly are on team’s long-term injury list and are unlikely to feature in any of the remaining three games.
Carragher is set to play in his last Merseyside derby, as he plans to retire from football at the end of the season.

Everton team news:

Everton are sweating on the fitness of midfielder Darren Gibson, as he suffered a hip and thigh injuries at the training session and was forced to miss the game against Fulham.

Tony Hibbert will be included into the first team by David Moyes after recovering from calf injury.

Moyes is set to decide who to play up front with Jelavic and Anichebe both competing for the place in the starting line-up.
