Premier League Matchday 21 Results: Newcastle 1-2 Everton

Everton battled to a deserved 2-1 victory over struggling Newcastle side in a thrilling match at St James’ Park.
Forward Papiss Cissé got the Magpies off to a flying start by scoring a header in the 3rd minute of the game. Newcastle United could have doubled their lead with a James Perch’s fine header bounced back off the post.
Everton were carved open a number of times but despite the ability of their opponents to create chances they struggled to put them away.
The Toffees equalized just before the break as Leighton Baines netted a stunning free-kick from 30 yards in the 43rd minute. Baines has been particularly impressive in that game as he could have scored at least three more times with his perfectly executed free-kicks.
Viktor Anichebe came off from the bench to score the winner in the 60th minute with a silky finish.
Newcastle have suffered their 10th defeat in 13 matches and now find themselves in the 15th spot just two points above the relegation zone. The result saw Everton climbing to the fifth place with their hopes of Champions’ League berth still viable.
