Premier league results: Arsenal 4-1 Reading

A comfortable win for Arsenal saw Gervinho named a man of the match after the Gunners’ convincing 4-0 win over Reading at the Emirates stadium.

Newly arrived manager Nigel Adkins did not manage to inspire Reading lads with new life, as they were struggling to withstand Arsenal’s pressure. Gervinho got Arsenal off to a flying start by scoring a close-range effort in the 11th minute. The Ivorian winger then set up a goal for Cazorla, who scored with a magnificent curling shot from outside of the area three minutes into the second half. Giroud took Arsenal’s lead further with a low shot from Gervinho’s assist in the 67th minute. Robson-Kanu has clawed one back for Reading with a clos-range header from McAnuff’s delivery. Arteta rounded off Arsenal’s victory with a shot from 12-yards.

The victory saw Arsenal moving two points closer to a desired fourth place, as Chelsea suffered an eyebrow-raising defeat to Southampton.
