Arsenal have recovered form a disastrous defeat against Aston Villa with a comfortable win at Craven Cottage amid torrential rain. Giroud opened the score in the 14th minute and Lukas Podolski added a brace before Darren Bent notched a consolation goal.

It was Cardiff City who marked a sensation by beating Manuel Pellegrini’s side 3-2 at Cardiff City Stadium. Edin Dzeko’s strike in the 52nd minute seemed to be the start-up to the win over the recently promoted side but Aron Gunnarsson;’s goal and Fraizer Campbell brace minutes before time downed Manchester City. Alvaro Negredo’s strike in extra time did not prevent the Citizens from the first defeat of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool celebrated their second narrow victories thanks to Roberto Soldado penalty and Daniel Sturridge personal effort.
