PSG claim Ligue 1 title with a win over Lyon

Paris Saint Germain clinched their first Ligue 1 title since 1994 with a well-deserved 1-0 win over Lyon.

Menez’s second-half goal was enough for PSG to grab three points and open up an unassailable seven-point lead at the top of Ligue 1 table. Despite Lyon having several decent chances their forwards clearly lacked lethal edge up front. At the end of the game PSG boss Ancelotti stormed the pitch to celebrate the huge success. PSG’s Qatari owners were understandably happy to see their investment paid back so quickly, with team reaching the Champions League qualification and winning the title in the first year. However now they will expect the team to challenge Champions League trophy next season.

The PSG’s win means there are six teams lifting Ligue 1 trophy over the past six years.
