PSG to make an approach for Wenger

French moneybags Paris Saint-Germain have set their sights on signing Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger.

Wenger feels heavy pressure from fans and media alike, as the Gunners are approaching their eighth back-to-back season without silverware. Arsenal were knocked out from both domestic cup competitions by the lower-profile sides and are on the brink of Champions League exit after losing to Bayern Munich 3-1 at the Emirates stadium. They are also finding themselves in the fifth Premier League spot, seven points behind their bitter rivals Tottenham.

PSG Qatari owners believe that the arrival of the homegrown manager will help the club to improve its popularity, amid the recent string of poor results. As source close to Qatari owners revealed: “A French coach could help the club in terms of popularity. That is one aspect the owner sees as very important.”

However Arsene Wenger has reiterated he is determined to see his contract out, which is due to expire in 2014.
