Sevilla beat Benfica on penalties to claim Europa League title

Benfica failed to win the final again as they lose to Sevilla on penalties.

The Eagles might be seriously considering dealing with a curse after they suffered a tenth defeat in twelve international finals since 1961. The Portuguese looked favourites after knocking out Juventus in the semifinals, but fell to organized Andalucian defence, orchestrated by Argentine duo Federico Fazio and Nicolas Pareja. Both sides had chances to score but left it to penalty shoot-out to pick the winner. Sevilla goalkeeper Beto was the hero of the night as the Portuguese saved two strikes from Oscar Cardozo and Rodrigo. Bacca, M’Bia, Coke and Gameiro netted for Sevilla to give them the third UEFA Cup/ Europa League title since 2005. Jorge Jesus lost his second straight European final.

Another two Spanish sides Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will play in the Champions League final on 24 May at Estadio Da Luz.
