Spanish La Liga: Atletico’s first defeat
Real Madrid overcame of Real Zaragoza and Barca saw off Celta.
Barcelona remain atop of the table after they have notched a 3-1 victory over Celta de Vigo. Atletico Madrid who stood behind Barca’s back ended their unbeaten start this season losing to Valencia 0-2. Roberto Soldado netted a first-half goal and an injury-time goal from Haedo Valdez ensured Valencia’s seventh win in eight matches. Atletico are placed second in the table three points behind leaders Barcelona.
Real Madrid stay unbeaten their fifth consecutive La Liga match claiming 4-0 win against Real Zaragoza at the Santiago Bernabeu. Gonzalo Higuain and Angel di Maria made it 2-0 before the interval, Michael Essien and Luka Modric added a two late goals. Jose Mourinho celebrates his 100th win since he took over Madrid’s manager. Los Merengue climbed up to the third position in the table staying eight points behind the leader.
Two goals from Piti secured Rayo Vallecano a 2-1 win against Malaga while Real Sociedad lost at Espanyol 0-1. Osasuna suffered a 0-1 loss against Valladolid and Athletic Bilbao secured a 2-1 win against Ciudad de Murcia. Sevilla and Levante ended in a goalless draw.
