Swansea Monk committed future to the club

Sky Sports informs Swansea skipper Garry Monk has put an end to the speculations linking him with a move away from club by extending his deal until 2015.

The 33-year-old centre-back along with Alan Tate and Britton are the only players to have played at the Liberty stadium in all four divisions.

Monk said he is happy to commit his future to the club. He said: “I’m delighted. This club has been my life for nearly 10 years and I love it here. My heart is here and I’ve never wanted to leave from the very first day I arrived […] The club didn’t want me to go, so I felt that while I am still contributing to the team - on and off the pitch - this was the place I wanted to be.”

Monk has joined Swansea from Barnsley on a free in 2004. He has made 217 appearances for the club scoring 3 goals.
