Top matches of the European weekend

Arsenal - Tottenham

The London derby has always been significant for both teams, but this season it seems Arsenal needs a victory in the game more, experiencing one of the worst starts of the season under Arsene Wenger. Arsenal lies eighth in the league lagging behind Tottenham for a point. The Spurs have not finished above Arsenal since 1995 but now they look stronger physically and tactically and Andre Villas-Boas claimed before the match, that one of his prime goals this season is to finish above the Gunners.

AC Milan - Napoli

After a defeat from Fiorentina Massimiliano Allegri’s side heads to Napoli with a hope to change their fortunes and revive the spirit of the team and fans. The Italian tactician certainly understands that the support of the Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani will not last for long and the team should grab 3 points in the game. Milan was beaten in six out of 12 matches in Serie A, while Napoli lost only two points in their six home games

Marseille - Bordeaux

The match against Bordeaux poses several problems for Marseille coach Elie Baup, the first one is the weak offensive line. Marseille players scored only 16 times in 11 matches which is the lowest result among the top clubs. To make things worse one of the most experienced strikers of the team Loic Remy will miss the match after sustaining a thigh injury in the game against Nice last weekend. The manager noted that his players “have to show more solidarity in these hard times”, a fair pion taking into account the fact that the team that have not defeated Bordeaux at their own stadium since 1977.

Borussia Mönchengladbach - VfB Stuttgart

German representatives in the Europe League meet on matchday 12 and both teams are expecting positive result from the game. Stuttgart has grabbed only one point from their last two fixtures, with the team showing weak performance in defense. Borussia coach Lucien Favre claimed before the match his team would play attacking football, underlining: “we need to fight hard for every point”.
