Watford Vydra eyes Premier League move

Watford prolific striker Matej Vydra, who claimed Championship Player of the Year award on Sunday, has openly stated he wants to move to a Premier League club in summer.

Vydra, who has joined Watford on a season-long deal from Udinese, has netted 20 goals this season to help Watford to challenge Premier League promotion this season. He has also scored a brace in crucial Czech Republic’s World Cup qualifier against Armenia to help his side to a victory.

Vydra’s impressive performances have drawn attention from several Premier League clubs, with Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas said to be particularly interested in landing the player, amid the firepower crisis at the White Hart Lane. And, given that the Czech international himself is dreaming of Premier League football, only the promotion could convince him staying at Vicarage Road.

Vydra’s agent Ondrej Chovanec revealed: ‘There is interest around Europe but he would like to remain in England. He likes the competition, the style. It suits him. To say what will happen is very difficult. There are eight games until the end of the season and maybe the play-offs.’
