Wenger admitted interest in Rooney

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger expressed interest in landing unsettled Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney.

Before the final game in charge of the Red Devils, Sir Alex Ferguson openly admitted Rooney has asked for a transfer. However David Moyes is determined to hold onto the services of United and England star. This cast a doubt on Rooney’s future at Old Trafford, fuelling the speculation he will be leaving the club in summer.

Arsene Wenger threw the fat in the fire, saying he would love to see Rooney playing in the Gunners shirt. He said: “Rooney could be an interesting player for everybody in the world, who would turn him down?. David Moyes’ first challenge is to go in to Manchester and bridge the gap between him and Rooney. If that is feasible or not depends on his personality and if Rooney bears a grudge or not, we will see. It will be interesting to see how that will be handled.”
