Wigan to appeal against Figueroa’s sending off against Newcastle

Wigan Athletic coach Roberto Martínez revealed that the club is going to appeal against Figueroa’s dismissal during their 3-0 defeat against The Magpies.

Controversial episode came in the 13th minute of the game as Wigan’s left back brought down Papis Cissé in the penalty area. The referee gave the penalty to the home side and showed the red card to Figueroa.

Martínez said that there was tough and fair shoulder-to-shoulder struggle between two players for the ball and that Figueroa did not deserve the red card.
