Wigan Athletic could sign Marco Pappa

Guatemala midfielder Marco Pappa who is now playing for Chicago Fire in the MLS may join the English club the next year as the preliminary agreement between the clubs states.

The contract of the player with the US side expires at the end of this year and he will move to England in January or February.

While Wigan wanted to sing a four-year deal Chicago tried to keep the player at the team but growing interest from a number of clubs including SC Heerenveen, Twente, AZ Alkmar, PSV and Wigan proved that the midfielder will move to Europe in any case. Chicago rejected the first offer made by the English club, though talks continued and finally the deal was agreed on. The 24-year-old midfielder may appear in the Premier League after the end of the season in MLS.

It is worth to mention that according to Guatemalan press, SC Heerenveen still appears as a possible option for Marco Pappa, as the club manager Marco Van Basten expressed his desire to see the national team member in his team.
