World Cup 2014 qualifiers’ preview: Sweden vs Republic of Ireland

The Republic of Ireland will visit Sweden in a crucial World Cup qualification game. Both teams are claiming the second place, while the favourites Germany are expected to progress from the first place.

Sweden occupy the second place with seven points from three games, while Republic of Ireland hold the third place with six points from three games.

Republic of Ireland team news:

Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne and Spartak winger Aiden McGeady are poised to miss the clash against Sweden as they have not fully recovered from injuries, while skipper Robbie Keane is fit and healthy and will be included in the first XI by coach Giovanni Trapattoni.

Wolverhampton forward Kevin Doyle has been dropped from the squad because of run of poor form at his club.

John O’Shea is likely to team up with Aston Villa Ciaran Clark in the heart of Republic of Ireland’s defense.

Sweden team news:

Galatasary Johan Elmander is set to miss the encounter, while PSG forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic expected to wear the captain’s armband.

Sebastian Larsson and Kim Kallstrom have also been called up by Sweden manager Erik Hamren.
