World Cup qualification results: Europe. Wales 1-2 Croatia

Late Eduardo strike has broken Wales’ hearts as Croatia turned one-goal deficit to overcome Wales 2-1 in a thrilling World Cup qualifier in Swansea and end Wales’ hopes of a major international tournament.

The home side took a 21st minute lead through Gareth Bale’s penalty, awarded for Lovren’s foul on Ledley. Gareth Bale has calmly converted the penalty to record his fifth goal in last six international appearances. Croatia bounced back in the second half by courtesy of Lovren’s 30-yarder. Eduardo scored the winner minute with a low shot in the 87th minute of the game.

The victory means Croatia are 10 points clear of their closest rivals Serbia, while Wales are staying in the fourth spot with 6 points from six games, having completely lost the chances of reaching the second place.
