World Cup qualifiers preview (Europe): Sweden vs Faroe Islands and other games

Currently the Swedes are finding themselves in the fourth place of Group C three points behind second-placed Austria and desperately need a victory over basement-boys Faroe Islands to revive their chances of reaching the World Cup final stages.

The win will allow Sweden moving level on points with Austria and Republic Ireland, although they will still be behind Austria on goal difference. Meanwhile Germany are in the driving seat to book themselves the place in the World Cup final stage, as they are five points clear of the closest rivals.

Elsewhere Denmark need a win over Armenia to retain outside chances of qualification from Group B, as they are in the fourth spot with 6 points, trailing the second-placed Bulgaria by four points. Both Group I underdogs Belarus and Finland have lost any chances of reaching the top two spots that is why their encounter solves nothing in terms of tournament standings.
