Xavi is Barca symbol

The club announced that the player sealed a new deal with the side.

The Spanish midfielder has already set the record of most appearances in Barca shirt making 659 outings for ‘Azulgrana’. Yet the 33-year-old is determined to extend that number signing a new deal with Barcelona that included the price tag of €80 million as a buy-out clause for any interested club.Xavi played for Barca during his whole career and the contract he penned yesterday links him with the team till 2016.

The midfielder claimed the new commitment was very special for him, stating: “I know I have more years at ‘Can Barça’ and that is where I want to stay. My very first choice has always been to play here. The team has made it happen and I really appreciate it. I will attempt to keep performing as I have over recent years.”

The Spanish international expressed his hope that he will stay at the pecking order for many years to come and help the side claim new titles.
“I really want to be at Barça for many years. I know how challenging it is but I would like to continue for many more years”, he underlined.
