Zola can be named next Chelsea manager

Daily Mail reports that Chelsea fans’ favorite Gianfranco Zola is considered as a serious contender for the Blues’ job after Abramovich’s main target Pep Guardiola confirmed he takes charge of Bayern in summer.
Real Madrid’s manager Jose Mourinho, Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen Klopp and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone have all been recently linked with Chelsea’s job. Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has been considered a prime target by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. However the Spaniard has decided to choose Bayern Munich, the club with history and excellent structure over Chelsea’s nouveau riche.
Zola spent six seasons at the Stamford Bridge and was voted the greatest ever Chelsea player, after scoring 59 goals in 229 appearances for the London side. Should Zola take charge of Chelsea, this possibly undoes the negative atmosphere around the club that came with the controversial sacking of Di Matteo and arrival of Rafa Benitez. The displeasure of the fans reached such an extent they demanded to fire interim coach Benitez and threatened to boycott Chelsea matches as long as he stays in charge.
The 46-year-old Watford manager has recently declared his love to Chelsea and revealed that dreams to take charge of the Blues someday.
“One of my dreams is a day when I can become the manager of Chelsea. Chelsea is in my heart. I hope one day I will get the chance to be manager there,”– said Zola.
Zola started his career as manager with West Ham in 2008. He was fired in the end of the season after the club has narrowly avoided relegation. However the Italian has demonstrated he is capable to learn from his mistakes and has had a solid start at Watford in his first season.
