Alan Shearer is a former football player, born in 1970 in England. He spent his teenage years at Wallsend Boys Club and Southampton and after two years at the latter one he was promoted to the first team, where he scored three goals in five games and was offered a professional contract. Shearer made 158 appearances in all competitions and scored 43 goals and in 1992 he left Southampton for Blackburn Rovers. He played there until 1996 and helped the team to win the Premier League title in 1994/95 and was named Premier League Player of the Season.
Shearer completed a move to Newcastle United in the summer of 1996 and in his first season with the club he made 31 league appearances and scored 25 goals, thus became the league top scorer. He was the top scorer in his previous two seasons.
In 1996/97 Newcastle was the Premier League runner-up. Shearer played for them during a decade and made 395 appearances, he scored 206 goals. In 2006 he retired from playing.
Between 1992 and 2000 he earned 63 caps for the England national team and scored 30 goals. Throughout his playing career Shearer was awarded with Premier League Golden Boot in 1994/95, 1995/96, 1996/97, UEFA Cup top scorer in 2003/04, 2004/05 and PFA Players’ Player of the Year in 1995 and1997.
After retirement Shearer qualified as a football manager and obtained the UEFA Pro License. In April 2009 he took charge of Newcastle United but couldn’t prevent the team from relegation and left the post.
