Álvaro González is a winger for Lazio. He was born on 29 October 1984 in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Álvaro’s professional career started in 2003 after he signed for Defensor Sporting. Since his debut season Álvaro was a regular starter despite his being a rookie in pro football. The head coach saw the young winger’s potential and wanted to enhance it. During 4 seasons at Defensor Sporting Álvaro González made 47 appearances and scored 4 goals.
In 2007 Álvaro signed for the Argentine Boca Juniors. The famed Latin American club distinguished young Álvaro’s potential and talent and wanted to put it to good use for the sake of the team. During 2 years at Boca Juniors the Uruguayan made 33 appearances and scored 1 goal.
In 2009 González joined Uruguayan Primera División Nacional. During the 2009/10 season Álvaro became the club’s key midfielder and scored 3 goals in 37 appearances during the season.
In 2010 Álvaro continued his career in Europe. In the summer of 2010 he joined Lazio as the club wanted to see the Uruguayan winger in their ranks as a regular. González has made more than 100 appearances for Lazio.
Since 2006 Álvaro González has been capped for the Uruguay national team.
