Andreas Bjelland is a back of Twente. He was born on 11 July 1988 in Vedbæk, Denmark.
Andreas’ career took off in local BSV, from where he moved to Lyngby Boldklub at the age of 13. At first, the young footballer trained and performed for youth teams of the club, but six years later he was offered to join the main team. Bjelland’s maiden senior appearance came on 22 July 2007 in the home 3-0 loss to Randers. The back featured in 40 games and fired one goal for Lyngby during his spell.
In the summer 2009, the footballer decided to transfer to FC Nordsjælland, where he soon clinched a place in the main team. Andreas twice lifted the Danish Cup with his new club. In 2011 Belgian side Club Brugge took an interest in the back, but their bid was rejected. During three seasons, Bjelland made 86 appearances and found the net three times for the Danish side team.
On 6 November 2011, the footballer penned a five-year contract with Dutch side Twente, where he was given number 2 shirt. Andreas joined the new club only in the summer 2012 and started to train for the position of a centre back.
Bjelland’s first international call-up to the Denmark national team came on 17 November 2010 in the friendly 0-0 draw with Czech Republic. One year later, the back was invited to take part in the Euro 2012 qualifiers. He featured in two games – against Cyprus and Portugal – but his national squad lost both of them.
