Andy Carroll is a forward of West Ham United. He was born on 6 January 1989 in Gateshead, England.
Andy began his professional career in Newcastle United and signed his first contract with the club in 2006. During the first season, Andy made rare appearances in the first team and lacked playing time. That is why he was sent on loan to Preston North End. In 2007/2008 Carroll took part in 11 matches for the temporary team and scored only one goal.
After he returned from the loan to his parent Newcastle, Andy was let on the pitch more often. The head coach decided to make the footballer a regular and Carroll netted 31 goals in 80 games by 2011.
In 2011 it was time to reach higher and change the club and Andy eventually received an offer from Liverpool FC. First the Merseyside club bid £30 million for Carroll, but that bid was rejected. After Liverpool sold Fernando Torres to Chelsea F.C. for £50 million, they raised the sum of the offer to £35 million and that was accepted by Newcastle United. Soon Andy signed a long-term contract with ‘The Reds’ and contributed 6 goals in 44 games for the new club.
In 2012 Andy was loaned out to West Ham United and impressed the club owners to the point that they bought out his contract from Liverpool for £15 million in the summer 2013.
From 2007 till 2010 Andy was capped 13 times for the England national U-19 and U-21 teams and scored six goals. From 2010 Andy has been capped for the senior Three Lions squad.
