Antonio Mirante is a goalkeeper for Parma. He was born on 8 July 1983 in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy.
Antonio’s youth career started in the middle 90s at Sorrento youth academy. Mirante studied at the academy until being scouted by Juventus in 2003. The young goalkeeper then left for Juve and finished his training there.
In 2004 Antonio signed for Juventus but was immediately sent out on loan to Crotone. During the 2004/05 Mirante made 41 appearances for the club. In the next season Antonio was loaned to Siena where he established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper with a total of 26 starts. In 2007 Mirante was sent on loan spell to Sampdoria where he made 13 appearances during the 2007/08 season.
In 2008 Sampdoria acquired Antonio from Juventus and signed him on a long-term contract. The club used Mirante as a backup goalkeeper during the 2008/09 season with a total of only 9 appearances. In 2009 Antonio was loaned to Parma, where he was made first-choice goalkeeper. Mirante’s impressive performance convinced the club management to sign him on a permanent contract. At present Mirante is the first and most reliable goalkeeper of Parma with a total of 102 appearances during 3 seasons so far.
