Bakary Koné is a defender at Lyon. He was born on 27 April 1988 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Bakary’s youth career began in 2002 when he joined the youth team of the football club Abidjan where he was playing until 2004, when he moved to Étoile Filante football academy. He was a member of the club only for a year.
In 2005 Bakary was offered to start a professional career in Étoile Filante that subsequently signed the footballer to the first contract in his life. Bakary began actively appearing in the club’s matches. Koné played 37 matches and scored one goal during the 2005/06 season.
In 2006 Bakary was noticed by scouts from Guingamp that played in the Ligue 1. The footballer signed a two-year contract with the club and got a position in the reserve team for which he played 25 matches and scored one goal. Later the African footballer joined the first team of Guingamp for which he began actively playing. Bakary was appearing for his club up to 2011; he played 112 matches and netted 7 goals during five years.
In 2011 Lyon made an offer to Guingamp on acquiring the young defender. The transfer fee made €2 million; on 11 August Bakary signed a five year deal with French Lyon for which he is currently playing.
Bakary Koné has been an active participant of the matches for Burkina Faso national team since 2007.
