Ben Sahar

Ben Sahar is a football player from Israel. He was born in 1989 and began to play football in the football academy in his hometown. Then he joined the youth system of Hapoel Tel Aviv and having graduated he moved to the English Premier League outfit Chelsea. The transfer happened in May 2006 and was of £320,000.

Sahar made his debut for Chelsea in the FS Cup match against Macclesfield Town on 6 January 2007. A week later he made his first Premier League appearance being used as a substitute in the match against Wigan Athletic. Ben Sahar was sent on loan to Queens Park Rangers for the first half of the 2007/08 season but that period wasn’t a success due to the injuries. Till the end of the 2007/08 season he was on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

On 1 July 2008 it was announced that Sahar goes to Portsmouth on a half-year loan and on 2 January 2009 he joined De Graafschap, playing in Eredivisie, on a loan deal.

In the summer of 2009 Sahar left Chelsea and signed a four-year deal with Espanyol for £1million. After a season in Spain he returned to Israel signing a loan deal with Hapoel Tel Aviv, where he stayed until his loan move to the French team Auxerre. In July 2012 Ben Sahar left Espanyol and joined Hertha BSC as a free agent.

He represented the Israel national team at U17, U18 and U21 levels and since 2007 has been a part of the senior squad.
