Billy Jones is a footballer who can play both as a defender and midfielder. He was born on 24 March 1987 in Shrewsbury, England.
Billy’s professional career began in 2003, when he signed a contract with Crewe Alexandra and started his rise to the new heights of English football. Soon Jones managed to clinch a place in the starting XI and to become a regular till 2007, when he left the club after making 132 appearances and netting eight goals.
In 2007 Billy attracted the attention of Preston North End, which made a tempting offer both to the footballer and to his squad. Jones accepted the offer in the summer 2007 and spent four bright and fruitful years in the new team. The head coach had a bone-deep belief in Billy’s talent and workmanship, so he let the midfielder make starts almost in every fixture. Jones made 160 appearances and scored 13 goals for Preston North End during his spell.
From 2011 to 2014 Billy performed for West Bromwich. He became one of the anchor players in the team. Later on he moved to Sunderland.
From 2002 till 2006, Billy Jones made 25 appearances for the Three Lions U-16, U-17, U-19 and U-20 squads.
