Blerim Džemaili is a halfback for Napoli. He was born in 12 April 1986 in Tetovo, Macedonia.
Džemaili’s professional career started at 17 years at Oerlikon Zürich. During his debut season Blerim was made a regular and scored 2 goals in 30 appearances. During the following season he made 26 appearances and netted 1 goal. In the season 2005/06 the halfback started 32 matches and scored 3 goals. During the last year at Zürich Blerim’s personal standing was 23 matches and 3 goals. At that time European giants Milan and Juventus wanted to sign Džemaili.
In 2007 the halfback moved to English Bolton Wanderers. But in England Blerim soon suffered a severe knee injury and underwent a lengthy recovery. Soon Bolton changed a head coach who didn’t trust a young and previously injured player. As a result Džemaili wasn’t included in Euro 2008 team. In August 2008 Blerim was loaned out to Torino with an option to purchase him for €2 million.
In September 2008 Džemaili made his debut in Italian Serie A against Chievo. Despite Torino relegation to Serie B the Italian club signed the halfback but in August 2009 he was sent out on loan to Parma.
In July 2011 Napoli acquired Blerim Džemaili for €9 million, Fabiano Santacroce loan and Manuele Blasi. Džemaili eagerly signed a 5-year contract with Partenopei and helped his team to win Coppa Italia in 2011/12 season.
Having double citizenship Blerim has been occasionally appearing for the Switzerland national team.
