Bobby Hassell is a defender of Barnsley. He was born on 4 June 1980 in Derby, England.
Bobby started his professional career in 1996, when he put pen to paper of a contract with Mansfield Town after several years in the academy of the club. The footballer had to face high competition for a place in the starting line-up, which prevented him from becoming a regular. He made 164 appearances and netted three goals for ‘The Stags’ during eight years.
Despite Hassell’s lack of playing practice, he managed to draw the attention of various English teams, which saw him complete a move to Barnsley in 2004. The defender penned a long-term contract with ‘The Tykes’, where he was given a chance to come on the pitch more often. Bobby eventually clinched a regular spot in the starting XI and became the pivot, who fired six goals in 254 matches for the club as of January 2013.
