Bogdan Lobont is a goalkeeper playing for A.S. Roma. He was born on 18 January 1978 in Hunedoara, Romania.
Lobont began his professional career with FC Corvinul Hunedoara in 1995 without leaving his hometown and made a successful debut with the professional club. Throughout two seasons Lobont was one of the team’s primary goalkeepers, always ready to replace the first keeper. Bogdan was a reserve goalkeeper, but while staying in the senior team he got a chance to make 40 appearances for Corvinul Hunedoara.
In 1997 Lobont moved to FC Rapid Bucuresti that performs at high level in Romanian football. For three years Lobont played in 80 matches as a goalkeeper of Rapid. In 2000 Romanian goalkeeper was transferred to Holland and started to play in Dutch club AFC Ajax. During 6 years Bogdan performed for the club as a reserve keeper and made 49 appearances.
In 2001 he was loaned back to Romania, to Dinamo Bucuresti. For 2001/02 season he played at the temporary team, making 22 appearances. After a long period of time, in 2006, Bogdan made his debut in Fiorentina and played 17 matches during one season.
In 2007 Bogdan made a move back to Romania and returned to Dinamo Bucuresti, where he had already played. For three years Bogdan appeared in 71 matches for Dinamo Bucuresti.
In 2009 Lobont made a decision to try himself as a steady reserve goalkeeper, but with a permanent spot. He perfectly fit in that position at AS Roma. Lobont is currently the second-choice goalkeeper of AS Roma, where he has played more than 17 matches.
From 1997 to 1998 Bogdan Lobont was called up to the Romania national U-21 team, making 10 appearances. Since 1998 the Romanian goalkeeper has been part of the Romanian national team with 78 caps.
