Bongani Sandile Khumalo is a South African centre back under contract with London side Tottenham and representing the SAR national football team. He was born in Manzini, Swaziland.
Bongani began his football career in the Arcadia Shepherds youth academy, from where he joined South African side University of Pretoria in 2005. There Khumalo spent two years, made 50 appearances and scored four goals. In 2007 he moved to one of the most promising and young teams of his country Supersport United. Playing for ‘The Trendsetters’, Bonghani thrice became the ABSA Premiership Champion. He made total 79 appearances for Supersport and netted eight goals. On 26 October 2010, it became known that the back was going to London side Tottenham in January 2011.
Spurs signed Khumalo for £1.5 million. The African player was bought to reinforce reserves and that was the reason he did not take part in any matches of the club from the beginning 2011 till the middle of 2011. In March 2011 Bongani was sent on loan to Preston North End, where he played in six matches. In August the same year the footballer went on loan to Reading. Not long ago it became known that Khumalo would go on loan to Greek side P.A.O.K. at the beginning of 2012/2013. A spell with Doncaster Rovers followed.
The back took part in the 2009 Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup for the full South Africa national team. He played all three matches of the 2010 World Cup group stage and found the net of the France national team.
