Branislav Ivanovic was born on 22 February 1984 in Sremska Mitrovica. He can play both centre back and right back.
Ivanovic began his career in Srem, which represents his home town. In 2003, the footballer leaves for the capital to play at OFK Beograd. In February 2006, Ivanovic transfers to Lokomotiv Moscow. In 2007, Branislav won the Russian Cup due to his tremendous performance.
Before 2006, Ivanovic was a player of the national U21 football team and in 2007 he was called the Player of the UEFA Cup Tournament. From 2006, the footballer plays for the senior team.
On 15 January 2008, Chelsea confirmed the club had agreed the terms of Branislav’s transfer, but he made the debut appearance in the first team only after eight months. On 8 April 2009, he netted his first goal for the club in the match against Liverpool during the Champions League quarter-final adding another one in the same match.
Mass media say that a lot of European clubs like Ajax, Juventus, Milan and Internazionale wanted to sign Branislav.
