Carlos Edwards is a back, born on 24 October 1978 in Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago.
Carlos’s professional career took off in local Patna United, where the footballer spent two years. In 1998, he transferred to Queen’s Park CC and performed for the club during the second part of the season. In 1999, Edwards completed a move to Defence Force, where he stayed during one year.
In 2000, the back sealed a deal with English side Wrexham and was given a chance to come on the pitch in the starting line-up at once. Carlos managed to become the pivot of the team, who amassed 23 goals in 165 fixtures during five years.
In 2005, the footballer put pen to paper of a contract with Luton Town and netted eight goals in 68 matches during two seasons. In 2007, Edwards’s services were secured by Sunderland, but the management of the club decided to send the back on loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers one year later. Carlos featured in six games for ‘The Wolves’ and returned to his parent team, where he took his tally to 50 appearances and five goals by 2009.
In 2009, the footballer signed for Ipswich Town and showed steady performance for ‘The Tractor Boys’, which helped him to earn the right to wear a captain’s armband. Edwards took part in 183 fixtures and chipped in nine goals for the club before switching for Millwall in 2014.
From 1999, the back has been capped for the Trinidad and Tobago national team.
