Cheikh M’Bengue plays as a left-back for Rennes. He was born on 23 July 1988 in Toulouse, France.
The player’s career started in 1994 when he joined FA Roques’ youth team squad. Over a period of two years he accumulated new experience while participating at youth championships. In 1996 the defender was spotted by the scouts from local club Toulouse and was called up to a tryout. M’Bengue featured at the exhibition match that finally convinced the manager of the youth academy to give him the place in the squad. From 1996 till 2007 a young defender studied at Toulouse academy. Over a period of 11 years he starred for numerous youth team squads in various youth tournaments.
In 2007 Cheikh’s youth career was over as he was awarded a professional contract. He readily agreed to the contract according to which he currently represents the club. Since 2007 there were two long breaks in his career. In 2007 and 2009 during the league matches the player committed two gross fouls due to which he was ruled out from playing for a few months. Those incidents enabled M’Bengue to participate in the primary club matches.
Since 2013 M’Bengue has featured for Rennes.
From 2008 till 2011 the player was French U-21 international. Since 2011 he has been capped twice for the Senegal national football team.
