Chris Wood is a striker of West Bromwich. He was born on 12 December 1991 in Auckland, New Zealand.
In 2007 Chris signed a contract with Waikato FC and got an opportunity to come on the field five times during his first season, which gave him additional self-confidence. The following year Wood was offered a move to Hamilton Wanderers, where he spent one season, showing cinematic attacking performance by netting 16 goals in 17 matches.
Rumours about the footballer spread at enormous speed and soon attracted the attention of West Bromwich. In the summer 2009, the New Zealand talent decided to accept a tempting offer of the English side and penned a contract in really short term. After Chris spent half of the season with the team, he was sent on a six-month loan to Barnsley and made seven appearances for the temporary club. In the summer 2010, he went on another loan, this time to Brighton & Hove Albion.
In the summer 2011, Wood continued to perform on loan and became a player of Birmingham City, where he took part in 23 games and kicked nine goals. In January 2012, Chris went to Bristol City and ended the 2011/2012 season on temporary basis, making 19 appearances and scoring three goals. After a series of loan spells with different clubs Chris signed a permanent deal with Championship side Leicester City.
In 2007 Chris Wood took part in three games of the New Zealand national team. From 2009 he was capped 24 times and contributed seven goals for the senior national squad.
