Christian Benteke

Christian Benteke is a Belgianstriker currently playing for Aston Villa in the English Premier League. He was born on 3 December 1990 in Kinshasa, Zaire.

Christian embarked on his professional career at a Belgian prominent side Genk in 2007 and went on with a fellow team Standard Liège. He spent the 2009/10 season on loan at Kortrijk amassing 15 goals in 34 matches. In the 2010/11 campaign, Benteke had another loan spell at Mechelen. After that he had a fruitful 2011/12 season at Genk scoring 19 goals in 37 Belgian Pro League matches.

In the summer 2012, Benteke signed a contract with a Premier League club Aston Vila where he plays today. He scored a maiden goal during his Premier League debut against Swansea City. The Belgian striker continued to impress scoring a brace in a 3-1 win over Liverpool on 15 December. He established himself as a pillar of the team and is given a regular place in the starting line-up.

Christian Benteke was an international for Belgium at various youth levels from U17 to U21. He is capped to the senior Belgium side since 2010.
