Christian Vander was born on 24 October 1980 in Willich, Germany.
Vander was fostered at the youth team of Borussia Mönchengladbach, which was called 1. FC Viersen. In 1997 Christian moved to KFC Uerdingen 05, where he made 29 appearances.
In 2000 VfL Bochum welcomed the footballer into the fold. For five seasons he played 19 Bundesliga matches, but didn’t manage to become the first choice keeper. Unable to compete, Christian started looking for a new club, and was quickly signed by Werder Bremen. Firstly he moved there on loan and in a season he penned a contract with the club, running until the summer of 2007. Later the deal was extended until 2010. Thanks to bright performance, Vander was rewarded with a new contract, tying him to the Green-Whites until 2012.
Since the 2007/08 season Christian was the second-choice keeper for Werder Bremen. His senior debut came on 19 August 2010. Vander retired from football at the end of 2012/2013 season.
At international level Vander was capped once for the Germany U-18 team, when he made a sub appearance in a friendly game. The keeper hasn’t taken part in any of the matches of the senior squad.
