Cristiano Ronaldo. Biography
Cristiano was born in 1985 in Portugal.
This talented player began his career in Sporting Lisbon. When he was still very young, the footballer’s game level was high and his dribbling skills and shot could be a source of envy for many famous players. At this time namely Cristiano was spotted by an English club – Manchester United – which paid £12 million for his transfer. According to Ronaldo, he did not want to have number ‘7’ on his jersey as it had previously belonged to many world famous footballers latest of whom was Manchester United and England national team star David Beckham. Despite this Sir Alex Ferguson gave the number ‘7’ jersey to Cristiano, which was an additional motivation for him.
The player should not have feared disgracing the famous number. Playing for Manchester United Cristiano became one of the world’s best players. He managed to develop his own dribbling technique which could only be matched with the one of famous Ronaldinho who was a magician on the pitch at that time. His famous direct free kicks with the ball flying a most intricate trajectory were considered a model to emulate. Moreover, not only was his shot accurate, it was rather powerful too which made his long shots a nightmare for goalkeepers.
In 2009, Ronaldo became a player of Real Madrid after a record-breaking transfer of 83 million pounds. His presentation in Madrid gathered almost 100,000 people. Only Maradona and Pele could boast suchlike popularity with the fans. The rumor had it, the owner of the club insured the player for a total of 100 million euros which he should receive if Ronaldo is unable to continue his football career due to an injury.
Today Ronaldo boasts a huge number of personal awards both in the club and national team, wears captain’s armband of the Portugal national team as well as is one of the most talented and highest paid young players in the whole world.
Ronaldo won Ballon D’Or award in 2008 and 2013.
