Daniel Alves is a FC Barcelona right wingback. He was born on May 6, 1983 in Juazeiro, Brazil.
Dani’s youth career began in the local Juazeiro academy where Alves began practising football. Simultaneously, the young defender took part in the youth team matches, which gladdened the youth team coach.
In 2001, the player was spotted by scouts from Bahia – a Brazilian championship club. Dani Alves played a trial match when scouts visited the club’s academy and convinced Bahia representatives he was the one they needed. In 2001, Daniel signed his first ever professional contract with Bahia and began his career as a professional footballer. During his first season Dani frequently appeared on the pitch and scored 2 goals in 25 matches of the 2001/02 season.
In 2002, the young footballer drew attention of Sevilla FC scouts. The player displayed good activity, tactics and technique skills. He had prospective wingback qualities which could be used in wing attacks. The terms of the contract and stay were best for Dani at that moment, so he did not wait long before choosing to move to another continent. In 2002, Dani signed a professional contract with Sevilla FC according to which he played for the club till 2008. His frequent appearances made him a key Sevilla FC player and he spent several great years of his career with the club having drawn the attention of best European clubs.
In 2008, arguably the best club in the world, FC Barcelona, made a decision to buy one of the best Sevilla FC players and spent 23 mln euros on the deal. Dani occasionally was an important player for the club. And some time before 2009 he began to appear in the starting line-up on a regular basis. Since 2008 Dani Alves has played 131 matches for the club and scored 12 goals.
Since 2006 Dani has regularly played for the Brazil national team; he has played in more than 50 matches and scored 5 goals so far.
