Danny Sean Guthrie is a football player, born in Shrewsbury, England in 1987. He began to play football at Thomas Telford School, then joined the youth system of Manchester United and then moved to Liverpool. He graduated in 2005 and made his first team appearance in the 2006/07 pre-season, in the game against Wrexham. On 25 October 2006 he made his competitive debut in the Football League Cup match against Reading.
Guthrie was loaned out to Southampton on 2 March 2007 and stayed there until the end of the season. He was loaned to Bolton Wanderers for the 2007/08 season and throughout his stay he made 25 league appearances.
On 11 July 2008 Guthrie signed a four-year deal with Newcastle United and made his first appearance in the pre-season match against Hartlepool United, which he marked with a goal. In his first season with the team he was a regular and the following season was used even more often, helping his side to earn promotion to the Premier League. In 2010/11 he fell out of favor and wasn’t given playing time, became Cheick Tioté joined the team. Guthrie moved to Reading in June 2012 signing a three-year contract.
