Darijan Matič is a midfielder, born on 28 May 1983 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Darijan’s adult career started in 2001 when he debuted for the Slovenian football club Triglav. Having earned 12 appearances during the first professional season, the midfielder moved to Ljubljana. In the 2002/03 season Matič managed to make only 5 outings for the team, failing to become a key figure on the field.
In 2003 Darijan returned to Triglav, this time showing better performance with 4 goals in 30 matches. After a short spell at FC Koper, Matič switched to Olimpija Ljubljana. During his 2004-2005 stay at Olimpija the midfielder registered 17 appearances and netted once.
In 2005 he moved to another Slovenian club Domžale, becoming a real team’s leader in the midfield. For one season Darijan featured in 45 matches and scored 7 goals, enjoying great confidence of the head coach. In 2006 the footballer was acquired by FC Shinnik Yaroslavl, but after 14 games he was sent on loan to PFC Spartak Nalchik, the Russian Premier League participant.
Matič returned to Slovenia in 2004, signing for Interblock Ljubljana. During two seasons, he was a regular fixture in the starting lineup and delivered 4 goals in 45 matches. The 2009/10 season was marked by his confident play at FC Rapid București. From 2011 to 2013 Darijan Matič had been playing for Kryvbas.
