Diego Mario Buonanotte Rende is an Argentine footballer playing as a midfielder for Granada CF.
Buonanotte is a River Plate football academy graduate. He made his first appearance for the Argentine club on April 9, 2006 against Instituto. That game was the last one for him in the championship of Argentina of 2006. And the first goal that he scored for River Plate came in September of 2007 on the 29th minute of the match against Rosario Central.
Diego was a key player in a historic 2-0 victory over Boca Juniors. The quality of his performance helped him get a firm main squad place for a long time.
Buonanotte played 8 games with 2 goals in the Apertura of 2007. Diego became a Clausura champion in 2008 achieving the status of River Plate’s best goal scorer having netted 9 balls in 17 games. In 2009 he suffered in a severe car crash getting serious injuries. Rehabilitation took a lot of time but while recovering he didn’t lose his skills and continued to upset River’s rivals afterwards. Such performance attracted the attention of scouts from Málaga. Buonanotte joined the Spanish side on January 21, 2011 penning a 5-year deal. In 2013 though he moved to struggling Granada.
Diego didn’t happen to come through the ranks of the Argentine national team of every age. Nevertheless he became a gold medalist of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. In August 2008 Diego made his debut for the main squad against Serbia. He scored a spectacular free kick on the 86th minute of that game.
