Diego Milito

Diego Milito was born on 12 June 1979 in Bernal, Argentina. His first professional contract was with Racing Club de Avellaneda in 1999. Milito soon became a key striker at Racing. In 2001 he helped his team to win Apertura tournament. Diego stayed at the Argentinean club for five seasons, scoring 34 goals in 137 appearances.

In 2004 Milito left his homeland and signed for Serie B Genoa C.F.C. The striker fit perfectly in the Italian club and scored 33 goals during his stay at the Griffin. After a match-fixing scandal though Genoa was relegated to Serie C1, and the Rossoblu goleador was forced to leave the club. Milito signed for Spanish Real Zaragoza and became teammate with his younger brother Gabriel.

After two years at Zaragoza Diego Milito became the club captain. His incredible 51 goals in 108 appearances will be long remembered by the Spanish club’s fans. Football fans around the world will surely remember Diego Milito for scoring four goals in the match against Real Madrid of the 2006 Copa del Rey.

Top European clubs struggled to acquire Milito’s services, but Internazionale was the most persistent. The striker quickly adapted to José Mourinho’s schemes and tactics and became the club’s main goleador by the end of the season, with impressive 22 goals in 32 appearances.

All in all Milito netted 75 goals in 171 matches for Internazionale during five seasons. However, throughout his spell with The Nerazzurri the Argentine was haunted by injuries and in 2014 moved to his first club Racing Avellaneda.

Milito has 25 caps for Argentina national team.
