Djamel Mesbah is an Algerian footballer born on 9 October 1984 in Zighoud Youcef, Algeria. He currently plays as a defender for the Italian Serie A side Parma.
Djamel was groomed in the youth ranks of the French side US Annecy-le-Vieux between 1995 and 2001. Since 2001 till 2003, he played as a youth for a Swiss club Servette before he made his senior debut for the team in the 2003/04 Swiss Super League netting 3 goals in 11 matches.
In 2004, a young promising defender left for the top-flight FC Basel but was a bit-part player there featuring only for 11 games. However, in the 2006-2008 seasons, Mesbah enjoyed better fortune in a FC Aarau shirt establishing himself as a regular of the first team and amassing a total of 60 appearances for the Swiss Challenge League club.
In 2008, Mesbah moved to Italy to join Avellino on loan from FC Luzern. He pulled off three decent seasons (2009-2012) at Lecce scoring 6 goals in 82 appearances for the club.
In January 2012, young footballer was signed by the powerhouse Milan. He played his first game in the Rossoneri colours on 26 January in the 2011/12 Italian Cup quarter-final 3-1 win over Lazio and scored his maiden goal in a semi-final 2-2 draw with Juventus in March.
A highly promising Algerian international, Djamel Mesbah earned 15 caps for the Algeria national team to perform in the 2010 World Cup. He made his national squad debut in a friendly encounter with the Republic of Ireland.
