Donovan Ricketts is a Jamaican goalkeeper currently playing for Portland Timbers in MLS. He was born on 7 June 1977 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Donovan is a product of Wadadah FC youth system. In 2002, he embarked on his professional career signing for Village United. In 2004, the player moved to England and joined Bolton Wanderers. However, having played no games for the side, he was loaned to Bradford City to gain necessary experience. Ricketts shortly established himself as a prominent goalkeeper and the club signed the footballer on a permanent deal in 2005. Ricketts made a total of 104 appearances for Bradford during his three-year season at the club.
In 2009, the Jamaican goalie enjoyed a meteoric rise signing for the top-flight American side Los Angeles Galaxy. He left good impressions during the debut season as he helped the club to win the MLS Western Conference. Ricketts recorded the MLS Cup victory, the Supporters’ Shield win and Western Conference win in 2011. Overall, he played 70 matches for two seasons with the Galaxy. In 2012, the goalkeeper had a short spell at Montreal Impact amassing 24 games for the club. In August 2012, he moved to Portland Timbers where plays till the date.
Donovan Ricketts is a regular international for Jamaica since 1998. He was the instrumental part of the team during the 2010 World Cup qualifying.
