Edinson Cavani

Edinson Cavani is a striker for Paris Saint-Germain. He was born on 14 February 1987 in Salto, Uruguay.

At the age of 12 Cavani began playing for Danubio youth team. In 2006 he was promoted to the senior squad as the club won Uruguay Apertura League.

In January 2007 Edinson played for the Uruguay youth team in South American Youth Championship ending up the as the tournament’s best scorer with 7 goals in 9 matches and a runner-up.

On 29 January 2007 Palermo manager Maurizio Zamparini announced that the club signs Cavani for 3 years. Edinson successfully debuted in Italian Serie A on 11 March 2007 in a match against Fiorentina coming on as a 55th minute substitute and 15 minutes later scoring his first goal in the Italian championship.

In February 2008 Edinson made his debut for Uruguay national team in a match against Columbia and immediately scored the first goal of his senior international career.

On 17 June 2010 Edinson was acquired by Napoli for a total of €17 million. The Italian club signed Cavani for 5 years with an annual salary of €1.35 million plus a bonus of €100.000 for more than 20 goals in a season or €200.000 for 30 goals or more.

Cavani started scoring right from the beginning of his spell with the Italian club. His most memorable feats are: a hat-trick of headers against Juventus, a hat-trick against Sampdoria and a hat-trick against Lazio in a 4-3 win.

In May 2010 Edinson Cavani received a red card, was fined for €10.000 and disqualified for 2 games for offending the arbiter.

On 19 May 2011 Cavani signed for Napoli until June 2016. Overall, the Uruguayan became an indispensable striker at the club and a target for top European clubs. Having notched 104 goals in 138 games for the side Edinson was offered a lucrative deal at PSG and joined the French club in the summer 2013 in a transfer worth £55m.

From 2006 to 2007 Edinson Cavani played for the Uruguay U-20 team with 9 goals in 14 appearances. Since 2008 he has been called up to play for Uruguay national team with more than 60 caps to date.
