Eliseu Pereira dos Santos (or simply Eliseu) is a Portuguese defender.
In 2002 Eliseu moved to Portuguese Belenenses from Maritimo de Angra do Heroísmo. It took him two seasons to get promoted to the first team of the club from Lisbon with 19 appearances in the second one. He spent 5 productive years for Belenenses having appeared 52 times with 3 goals.
Eliseu moved to Málaga in 2007 and helped them get promotion to the Primera after a 2-year absence in the top flight. He became a firm starter in 2008 that helped him improve the quality of his performance. During two seasons the footballer gained 73 appearances and scored 10 times with the first goal coming against Recreativo on October 5, 2008.
On June 2009 Eliseu joined Lazio in Italy for a €1 million fee. Unfortunately he didn’t manage to get a main squad place there and eventually was loaned by Zaragoza in the January transfer window. He played 21 games and scored two goals for the Aragonese. It helped them escape relegation and Eliseu returned to Málaga in 2010.
At the beginning of the season he was established as a main squad player. On September 27, 2010 he scored his first goal opening the score with a stunning 25-metre kick in a match against Villarreal.
After four years with Malaga, Eliseu returned to Portugal and joined Benfica.
